Come audition to be a performing member or interview to be a tech or orchestra member in Penn’s one and only four-year light opera company! Each semester, we welcome the next class of Singers, and we’d love to have you audition.
Performing Members
How to Apply: Applicants are required to submit a pre-recorded audition video and audition form by Friday, September 11th at 5 PM EST, and complete a live 15-minute audition on Saturday, September 12th.
Pre-Recorded Audition Video: For your pre-recorded audition video, we are asking that you submit a landscape video of yourself performing 32 bars (about 30 seconds) of a song in the musical theatre or classical/opera canon, using a backing track that can be heard on video. In the video, please begin with a slate/introduction of yourself (name and pronouns), and introduction of your selected song title. The pre-recorded audition and audition form is due to by Friday, September 11th at 5 PM EST. Additionally, we ask that you record yourself singing along with vocal range exercises according to your vocal range that we will soon provide here [soon the “here” will be hyperlinked to the vocal exercises, but we’ve included another link as a placeholder. You’re welcome to click it]. You are welcome to sing along with whatever range you are most comfortable in!
Live Audition via Zoom: On the evening of Friday, September 11th, we will schedule you for a time on Saturday the 12th between 11am-2pm EST based on the availability you indicate on your audition form, along with a zoom link. If this time frame does not work for you, please reach out to and we will absolutely accommodate you! The live audition will consist of each applicant performing their 32-bar cut from their pre-recorded audition video, along with a short acting side, which we will send to you between the application deadline and your live audition! The side will not be expected to be memorized! We will additionally use this audition as a space for you to learn more about our company, ask any and all questions you may have and to gauge your personal fit with the company!

Lead auditions for our fall show, Now.Here.This, will happen once admitted to the company. NOTE: Only Performing Members in the company are allowed to audition for leads in our productions. Auditions will take place in both a pre-recorded and live format and be done in front of our Directors.
Tech Members
How to Apply: Applicants are required to fill out an application and attend a casual interview with our current Tech Directors. Please email your completed application to by midnight on Friday, September 11th.
Interview: Interviews will be conducted on Saturday, September 12th 8:30-10pm EST AND Sunday, September 13th 3-4:30pm EST (Zoom link will be sent to all who submit an application, and you may join the Zoom at any time convenient to you). Interviews are casual and last around 15 minutes; they give the Tech Directors a chance to understand where and how your interests can best fit our company. Please email us if you are unable to attend any of the provided times! : )
Orchestra Members
How to Apply: Applicants are required to fill out an application and submit a video performing a solo work that best demonstrates their range of expressive and technical skills. Please submit both your application and video to by Friday, September 11th at midnight EST.
